Good morning, Clermont County. The cafeteria revolution in Lebanon Schools proves that sometimes the best way to children's hearts (and healthy eating habits) is through their stomachs. Nutrition Director Megan Grippa's innovative approach—swapping deep fryers for combi ovens and empowering students to choose their own fruits and vegetables—has not only won her regional recognition but dramatically cut food waste. Her customer-focused philosophy reminds us that even institutional settings can be transformed with the right vision.

Summer in Cincinnati is bursting with vibrant opportunities, from the Gothic-themed butterfly show at Krohn Conservatory to experimental performances at the Fringe Festival. Food festivals celebrating Mediterranean and Italian cuisines offer culinary adventures, while Pride Month celebrations kick off across the region. Meanwhile, four Cincinnati police officers have filed a lawsuit alleging discrimination in promotions and assignments—adding another complex chapter to ongoing conversations about workplace equity in public institutions.

🍎 Lebanon Schools transformed cafeterias and student participation skyrocketed. Nutrition Director Megan Grippa won the Midwest region's Director of the Year award after implementing innovative changes that brought more students into school cafeterias. She replaced deep fryers with combi ovens, installed pizza ovens and salad bars, and introduced an "offer versus serve" approach that lets students choose their own fruits and vegetables. Grippa's philosophy—"It's not nutrition if we're feeding the trash can"—guides her customer-focused approach to school meals, resulting in less food waste and higher participation rates.

👮 Four white male Cincinnati police officers sue over alleged discrimination. The lawsuit claims Police Chief Teresa Theetge denied them promotions and preferred assignments because of their race and gender. According to the officers, minority lieutenants received preferred assignments at nearly double the rate of white male lieutenants (79% vs 44%). The Sentinel Police Association president questioned the lawsuit's claims, noting white males still hold the numerical advantage in the department.
