🧛 Vampire flick "Sinners" delivers bloody good blues and brotherly love. Ryan Coogler's latest film follows twin brothers (both played by Michael B. Jordan) opening a juke joint in 1930s Mississippi before vampires crash the party. The movie brilliantly takes its time establishing characters and atmosphere before diving into horror elements. Even during vampire-slaying sequences, the film maintains its focus on Black music and community, creating a unique dynamic where a white vampire attempts to conquer Black cultural space. A standout scene traces Blues evolution from Funk to Hip Hop in one unbroken shot, making this four-star film worthwhile even for non-horror fans.
