Good morning, Westerville. As America approaches its 250th birthday, Ohio is rolling out the cultural welcome mat with three new artistic trails celebrating our creative heritage. These additions to the Trails & Tales program showcase everything from visual arts to carousels, connecting landmarks like Packer Creek Pottery and the Cleveland Museum of Art in a statewide celebration of imagination that leads up to the nation's semiquincentennial in 2026.

Meanwhile, academic ambitions are getting a federal boost as Ohio State's Chase Center secures a $3 million grant to strengthen civic education programs for K-12 students. On the culinary front, however, there's disappointing news for steak loversβ€”Smith & Wollensky has officially scrapped its plans to return to Columbus after closing its Easton location last year, leaving local carnivores to look elsewhere for their prime cut fix.

🏫 Ohio State's Chase Center lands $3 million federal education grant. The funding from the U.S. Department of Education will help accelerate outreach programs that equip K-12 students and teachers to "sustain the American experiment." Established in 2023 as part of Senate Bill 117, the Chase Center launched its first courses this autumn semester. Executive Director Lee Strang called the grant "a recognition that Ohio is leading the way" in confronting civic decline. The center is part of a statewide consortium of civic engagement centers at five Ohio universities.
