Good morning, Westerville. The median home price in Columbus dropped 1% this Aprilβ€”the first year-over-year decline in more than a decade. While Cleveland and Cincinnati saw prices climb, our market stands alone among Midwest metros in showing signs of cooling. Though still 53% above pre-pandemic levels, this subtle shift might offer a glimmer of hope for would-be homebuyers who've been watching from the sidelines.

Meanwhile, tragedy struck Monday afternoon when a violent semi crash at Georgesville and Holt roads left two people fighting for their lives in critical condition. On a brighter note, musician Ahmed Gallab (performing as Sinkane) is creating waves with his new album "We Belong"β€”a defiant work of joy that bridges musical communities across New York. His genre-blending sound offers a powerful counterpoint to darkness, bringing together diverse artists while addressing serious themes with unmistakable optimism.

Emergency responders transported one victim to Grant Medical Center and the other to Doctor's West following the 12:45 p.m. accident. Authorities have closed the ramps to Georgesville Road from Interstate 270 South and West as they investigate the scene. Officials have not released details about what caused the crash or the identities of those involved.

🎡 Ahmed Gallab's music defies darkness with defiant joy. The musician, who performs as Sinkane, created his community-centered album "We Belong" after focusing on personal healing and growth. His genre-blending sound brings together diverse musical communities in New York, featuring collaborations with artists across jazz, hip-hop, and indie rock. Though addressing racial injustice in his lyrics, Gallab counters oppression with groove and optimism, drawing inspiration from Sly Stone. As political tensions rise and his native Sudan faces humanitarian crisis, Gallab sees his music taking on greater purpose as a voice for the overlooked.

🏠 Columbus home prices drop for first time in a decade. The median price of homes sold in April was 1% lower than a year earlier, marking the first year-over-year April decline since 2013. Columbus was the only Midwest city among the 50 largest metros to experience this decrease, while Cleveland and Cincinnati saw increases of nearly 12% and 6% respectively. This small but significant drop, combined with increasing inventory, suggests the city's hot housing market may be cooling as sellers begin to outpace buyers. Despite this dip, current median prices ($337,000) remain 53% higher than pre-pandemic levels, continuing to sideline many potential homebuyers, especially in lower-income areas.
