๐Ÿ“š Car crashes party

Westerville • March 4, 2025

โ€‹

Good morning, Westerville. A dramatic scene unfolded at the Parsons Branch library Saturday night when a vehicle smashed halfway through the building's glass facade, leaving behind shattered windows and startled staff. Yet in true Columbus fashion, the library barely missed a beat โ€“ they've simply covered the damage with plywood and kept their doors open to the community, proving that even a car-sized interruption can't stop the pursuit of knowledge.

Meanwhile, political drama and economic opportunity are reshaping our region's landscape. While the Franklin County Election Board settled the fate of city council candidate Tiara Ross by dismissing residency challenges against her, Columbus is making a bold $1.8 million investment in its workforce through the CAREER 500 program. The initiative aims to transform 500 lives by creating pathways to sustainable employment โ€“ a reminder that our city believes in second chances, whether for buildings or people.

๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ Election board dismisses challenge to Columbus City Council candidate. The Franklin County Board of Elections voted to deny a protest against Tiara Ross's candidacy for Columbus City Council District 7. Challenger D.J. Byrnes claimed Ross hadn't lived in Columbus for the required one-year period before the May primary. Ross provided evidence of a downtown Columbus apartment lease beginning May 3, 2024, though records showed she previously had a Reynoldsburg address outside city limits. As an assistant city attorney, Ross will face Jesse Vogel and Kate Curry-Da-Souza in the primary, with the top two advancing to November's general election.
