Westerville • March 3, 2025
Good morning, Westerville. Tucked inside an unassuming strip mall near Polaris, a culinary transformation is taking place. The Blue Sushi has emerged as our area's newest upscale dining destination, where stunning Japanese lanterns cast a warm glow over artfully presented lobster tuna rolls and truffle udon. It's a reminder that sometimes the most extraordinary experiences hide in the most ordinary places.
Meanwhile, sweet traditions and bold innovations are brewing across the city. The Original Goodie Shop is celebrating 70 years by expanding their historic bakery space, while Royal Flamingo Coffee – a micro-roaster barely three years old – just brought home two bronze medals from the world's largest coffee competition. From third-generation family bakeries to award-winning beans, Westerville's food scene is clearly rising to delicious new heights.

🧁 Historic bakery celebrates 70 years with major expansion. The Original Goodie Shop in Upper Arlington just completed a year-long project to expand into the neighboring space at Tremont Center. The family-owned bakery, which dates back to 1955, added 850 square feet for more production capacity and display space. Now in its third generation of family ownership, the bakery can offer an expanded selection of sweets, pot pies, and grab-and-go items. Emilie Smith, who reopened the bakery in 2009 after a brief closure, runs the business with her sister Miranda.
