Good morning, Vinton County. Breaking bread with neighbors creates bonds that strengthen communities, and Athens County is putting this age-old wisdom into practice. The Community of Good Works is serving up more than just hot meals every Friday evening—they're dishing out connection and support at their weekly community dinners. With free take-home food available for those who sign up, this initiative reminds us that sometimes the most powerful community building happens around a dinner table.
Meanwhile, healthcare heroes are getting their well-deserved spotlight as Ohio University Chillicothe prepares to celebrate 30 years of nursing excellence this fall. The October 4th alumni gathering will honor the 500+ graduates who've cared for our region since 1995. Closer to home, the newly launched Mill City Resiliency Fund demonstrates our region's remarkable spirit, as organizations band together to support families affected by the recent paper mill closure—a timely reminder that in Appalachia, we take care of our own.
