Vinton County • June 9, 2025
Good morning, Vinton County. A somber reminder of highway safety gripped our community Friday when a tragic collision on Route 28 claimed the life of 56-year-old Lori Schmidt. The rear-end crash between a Nissan Versa and a Can-Am Spyder motorcycle left multiple people injured and closed the highway for over three hours as investigators pieced together what happened on that stretch of Ross County road.
Meanwhile, history buffs have a remarkable opportunity to step back in time on June 14 when historian Larry Strayer presents his fascinating talk on Ohio's militia evolution at the Ross County Heritage Center. And there's promising infrastructure news for our neighbors in Bainbridge, where a $750,000 federal grant will help replace century-old water lines that have long plagued the village with high water loss issues—a critical investment that Representative Peterson calls "a pressing need" for the community.
