Good morning, Vinton County. A massive drug bust has disrupted the methamphetamine supply chain in our region, with authorities seizing over 450 grams of the substance following a six-month investigation. The operation, culminating in two arrests after a traffic stop on US-33 and a subsequent residence search, uncovered not just drugs but multiple firearms and other evidence of distribution activities—a sobering reminder of ongoing substance challenges facing our communities.

Meanwhile, civic engagement faces its own hurdles as Wellston City Council's Thursday meeting falls victim to insufficient attendance for a quorum. The next opportunity for public business will come May 1. On a more constructive note, residents concerned about mental health resources can make their voices heard at an upcoming town hall on April 24, where discussions will center around a proposed drop-in center aimed at supporting those struggling with mental health and substance abuse challenges.

⚾ Baseball Scoreboard

The Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs turned Wednesday's non-league matchup into batting practice, trampling the Vinton County Vikings 19-1 in a game that was over almost as soon as it began. The victory moves the Mustangs to a solid 7-2 on the season, while the Vikings limp away to lick their wounds before facing Miami Trace on Friday. In Canal Winchester, Grove City Christian apparently confused baseball with football, putting up a staggering 23 runs while shutting out Harvest Prep in league action. The Eagles' bats were hotter than a summer sidewalk, giving the Warriors (now 0-6) another painful lesson in what happens when pitching goes on vacation.
