Union County • July 4, 2025
Good morning, Union County. The restaurant world's revolving door is spinning at Sawmill Road, where PJ's Hot Pot has closed after less than two years of DIY Korean BBQ service. Already, a new establishment called ER-GE has claimed the space, continuing the hot pot tradition while adding buffet options. Such is the nature of the restaurant business—constantly evolving, sometimes overnight, leaving diners to adapt their taste buds accordingly.
Meanwhile, summer activities are blooming across our community. The Marysville Library has transformed into a hub of daily free lunches for children and engaging activities from Performance Dogs of Ohio to Alzheimer's support groups. And West Mansfield's Fourth of July celebration promises a dawn-to-dusk extravaganza featuring everything from morning 5K races to evening fireworks, with plenty of fishing, food trucks, and family fun filling the hours between. No shortage of ways to make memories this season.

🍲 Korean BBQ spot closes less than two years after opening. PJ's Hot Pot, an all-you-can-eat restaurant where customers cooked their own meats and vegetables at the table, has permanently closed its Sawmill Road location. The restaurant, which opened in February 2024, has already been replaced by another hot pot establishment called ER-GE. According to signage and city permits, the new restaurant will also offer buffet options. Renovations are currently underway at the 6100 Sawmill Rd. location.
📚 Marysville Library bursts with summer activities for all ages. The library's packed calendar includes daily free lunches for children through July 25, plus engaging storytimes for babies, toddlers, and families throughout the week. Special events feature Performance Dogs of Ohio, a virtual author talk with Raúl the Third, and educational sessions ranging from Kindergarten Readiness to Alzheimer's caregiving support. For book lovers, multiple book groups will discuss titles like "The Wager" and "The Art Thief," while creative activities include Perler bead crafting and Dungeons & Dragons magic tutorials.
🎆 West Mansfield's Fourth of July celebration promises fun for everyone. The Conservation Club's annual event on July 4th will run from early morning until after dark with activities throughout the day. Starting with a 5K race at 8:30 a.m., the celebration includes a parade at noon, kids' fishing clinic, live music, and food trucks featuring tacos, BBQ, and funnel cakes. Visitors can enjoy free bounce houses, games, tournaments, and raffles before the festivities culminate in a spectacular fireworks display at dusk.
