Good morning, Summit County. After years of detours and construction headaches, there's finally good news for Barberton drivers—the $9 million Wooster Road West improvement project has reopened to two-way traffic. While crews will continue minor work until mid-November, the massive undertaking funded largely through grants and a 2013 tax issue marks a significant infrastructure milestone for the community.

Meanwhile, a beloved local tradition faces its final curtain as Rock the Docks prepares to end its 17-year run at Springfield Lake amid disagreements between organizers and township officials. The volunteer committee cites recruitment challenges and rising costs as contributing factors. On a more somber note, the community mourns the unexpected loss of Selwyn-Lloyd John-Vincent McPherson II, a brilliant 38-year-old Stanford graduate and software engineer whose passions ranged from cooking to golf and his beloved cat, Waffles.

🎸 Popular lakefront festival to end after 17-year run. Rock the Docks, a community event at Springfield Lake since 2008, will conclude following disagreements between organizers and township officials. While the Springfield-Lakemore Festival Committee announced the township would "no longer permit" the event, officials countered they merely suggested changing to a one-day format due to safety concerns and strain on local services. The volunteer-run committee has reportedly struggled with recruitment and rising costs in recent years, with committee director Jerry Michael indicating they're now "exploring other possibilities" for the event.
