Good morning, Summit County. Wallet-friendly flavor is alive and well in Akron, where thirty top-rated eateries prove you don't need deep pockets for deep satisfaction. From the 4.8-star-rated Devitis Italian Market to multiple appearances by the iconic Swensons Drive-In, a simple ten-dollar bill can take your taste buds on quite the journey through Mediterranean, Italian, and Mexican culinary landscapes without the accompanying sticker shock.

The skies are finally opening up to offer relief for our parched region, with much-needed showers expected through Tuesday bringing up to an inch of precipitation. Once the rain passes, we'll settle into proper fall weather with highs in the 60s through the weekend. And as temperatures cool, cultural celebrations heat up with the commemorative eight-mile Portage Path trail honoring Indigenous heritage and highlighting an important message from Native peoples: "We are still here."

🏞️ Akron celebrates Indigenous heritage with historic eight-mile trail. North American First People's Day honors the Indigenous peoples who once inhabited the Akron area, particularly highlighting the Portage Path connecting the Cuyahoga and Tuscarawas rivers. This ancient trail served both as a crucial transportation route and as the western boundary between Indigenous lands and European settlements following the 1785 Treaty of Fort McIntosh. Despite forced removal of Native peoples from Ohio after the Northwest Indian War, local celebrations emphasize their continuing presence with the message: "We are still here." The commemorations began through a partnership between Akron's Lippman School and the Northern Cheyenne Nation in Montana.
