Good morning, Summit County. The fight against homelessness takes center stage this month as national expert Grettel Jiménez-Singer prepares to headline ACCESS's State of the Shelter Breakfast on May 20. The event offers our community a chance to both celebrate achievements and confront the ongoing challenges faced by women and children without homes in our area—a reminder that some of society's most critical work happens right in our backyard.

April has transformed Northeast Ohio into a cultural playground bursting with options for every taste. From the suspenseful twists of "Dial M for Murder" to the beloved traditions of "Fiddler on the Roof," entertainment abounds across the region. Meanwhile, healthcare systems face their own drama as grassroots activists mobilize against Summa Health's proposed sale to a venture capital firm—highlighting how deeply residents care about institutions that serve our community's wellbeing.

Hoover Vikings showed no mercy on Saturday, crushing the Hudson Explorers 7-1 in a non-league baseball showdown. The Vikings improved to 8-4 with the dominant performance, while Hudson suffered just their second loss of the season, dropping to 9-2. Both teams will look to rebound quickly with games early next week, though Hudson's impressive record suggests this blowout might be more anomaly than trend.
