Good morning, Summit County. Behind every meal at the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank is someone like Cam Fernandez, who turned a service requirement into a personal mission against hunger. The statistics are sobering: over 54,000 Stark County residents face food insecurity, including 16,000 children. Yet volunteers like Fernandez, who now serves multiple days weekly, are helping the organization deliver nearly 13 million meals to neighbors in need—a powerful reminder that our community's greatest challenges often bring out our finest responses.

Meanwhile, the animal kingdom gets a healthy boost as the Akron Zoo breaks ground on its $11.95 million Tom and Shelley Koutnik Animal Hospital, set to provide specialized care for thousands of creatures by 2026. And heads up if you've recently enjoyed treats from Sarah Jane Bread Company in Munroe Falls—their chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, and peanut butter cookies have been recalled due to undeclared milk and soy allergens, though thankfully no illnesses have been reported.

⚾ Baseball Scoreboard

Jackson's Polar Bears continued their perfect season, freezing the Stow-Munroe Falls Bulldogs 6-0 in a Sunday shutout that pushed their record to 8-0. The Bulldogs, now 2-4, couldn't muster a single run against Jackson's dominant pitching, making this less of a baseball game and more of a hibernation for Stow's offense.
