Good morning, Summit County. Creativity is finding some wild new expressions at the Akron Zoo, where elephants, jaguars, and other residents are picking up paintbrushes as part of the "Wonderfully Wild" exhibition opening April 8. These animal artists are creating legitimate works—from paintings to sculptures—that will be displayed alongside pieces by human zoo staff at the Cultural Center Gallery. Who knew that jaguar-transformed toys could resemble weathered ceramic art? The free exhibition runs through May 11, with special appearances by Pandora the Box Turtle herself.
The artistic renaissance continues in downtown Akron with Forever Changes gallery opening in May, offering artists flexible commission options while Mac Love creates art in the window to "demystify" the creative process. Meanwhile, school spirit takes center stage as local high schools compete for recognition in the Greater Akron-Canton High School Sports Awards' fan contests. Cast your vote for best band, mascot, or cheer squad before April 14, with winners celebrated at the June 17 ceremony at John S. Knight Center.

🎨 Zoo animals become artists in unique Canton exhibition. "Wonderfully Wild: Art By & For Animals" showcases artwork created both by Akron Zoo staff and the animals themselves. Opening April 8 at the Cultural Center Gallery, the free exhibition features paintings, sculptures, and even a jaguar-transformed play toy that resembles weathered ceramic art. The collaboration between ArtsinStark and Akron Zoo blends animal enrichment with artistic expression, with some pieces made from recycled materials. Visitors might even meet Pandora the Box Turtle during the show, which runs through May 11.
🎨 Downtown Akron's new gallery aims to make art creation transparent. Forever Changes, opening in May inside Art x Love's studio, will offer local artists exhibition space with two commission options: monthly rental with no gallery commission or free display with a 30% commission on sales. The 3,000-square-foot gallery can initially accommodate 20-40 artists and will feature Mac Love actively creating art in the window space to "demystify" the artistic process. Owners Mac and Allyse Love designed the gallery to connect artists with opportunities while making original art more accessible to community members.
