🔥 Community rescue squad

Good morning, Stark County. When disaster strikes, the true character of a community emerges. Sunday's apartment fire left 38 Canton residents without homes, belongings, or even access to their bank accounts—but within days, the American Red Cross distributed $10,000 in emergency funds while Canton for All People secured temporary motel accommodations. It's a powerful reminder of how quickly life can change and how vital community support becomes in those critical moments.

Meanwhile, nature enthusiasts braved chilly weather to celebrate Green's newest outdoor treasure—the mile-long Willadale Trail in Boettler Park, named after the land's original owner and funded largely by $835,000 in grants. And in academic circles, Walsh University is welcoming Rev. Ryan Furlong as its new campus chaplain starting July 1, bringing his background in education and ministry to support the institution's faith-based mission after transitioning from teaching high school social studies to priesthood in 2020.

🌳 Green's new Willadale Trail connects parks through nature's beauty. The mile-long path in Boettler Park was officially dedicated on Arbor Day with 75 attendees braving chilly weather. Named after Willa Dale Plummer, whose family originally owned the land, the trail features a 10-foot-wide surface of crushed limestone and paved areas. The project, funded largely by $835,000 in grants, represents a key addition to the city's growing network of connected trails and parks. FirstEnergy volunteers celebrated by planting two Bur Oak trees at the trailhead and 100 saplings throughout the park.
