🌱 Spring into action

Stark County • March 24, 2025

Good morning, Stark County. Spring is blooming with opportunities across our community as Stark County Mental Health & Addiction Recovery offers $2,500 grants for youth programs, and new blood-pressure hubs pop up in North Canton facilities. The season of renewal also brings meaningful events like the "Purses for a Purpose" auction kicking off Sexual Assault Awareness Month and family-friendly gatherings including a Bluey party at the library—proving our county knows how to balance serious community support with lighthearted connection.

The calendar pages are turning quickly for local students with scholarship deadlines approaching fast. From the John E. Harris III Architectural Scholarship to opportunities for future dairy industry professionals, financial aid awaits those who act before early April. Meanwhile, the county treasurer prepares to reinvest $2 million in Israel bonds despite controversy, highlighting how even local financial decisions can reflect broader global tensions.

💰 Stark County will reinvest $2 million in controversial Israel bonds. County Treasurer Alex Zumbar plans to purchase $1 million in three-year bonds and $1 million in five-year bonds when current investments mature April 1. Pro-Palestinian activists, including local residents Eric Resnick and Ahmed Cheema, have voiced outrage, arguing the investments fund the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza.
