Good morning, Scioto County. The ceremonial changing of the guard at the County Treasurer's office is set for an appropriately festive moment—just after the River Days Parade concludes. Joey Sandlin will take his oath at the Courthouse Rotunda on August 30, inviting the entire community to witness this transition of leadership and hear his vision for the office while enjoying light refreshments with neighbors.
Our region also pauses to remember Ruby Kerns, whose nimble fingers crafted more than quilts—they stitched together a legacy of patriotism and community service. The Lawrence County icon, who passed away August 8, was known for her handmade tributes to veterans. Meanwhile, the Ironton Farmers Market continues its Tuesday Night Concerts tradition, with City Heat having recently brought their sizzling sounds to shoppers and music lovers alike, and Star 69 scheduled to take the stage at 6 p.m. this week.
