Good morning, Scioto County. Half a century at the same workplace might sound like a relic of a bygone era, but Jack Galloway is living proof that career longevity still exists. Starting as a janitor in 1975 and now keeping the steam flowing at Fluor-BWXT Portsmouth, his five-decade journey represents the kind of dedication that built our region—complete with three generations of family who now call Pike County home.

Meanwhile, significant developments are reshaping our area's agricultural and healthcare landscapes. Carter County has earned a coveted spot among just 25 Kentucky counties invited to the prestigious Mid-South Beef Leadership Conference, positioning our region for agricultural advancement. And for those late-night medication needs, relief is on the horizon—Ashland's new UK King's Daughters Family Pharmacy launches 24/7 service next week, offering round-the-clock prescription access through both walk-up windows and drive-thru options.

🐄 Carter County joins elite regional beef leadership initiative. The county was one of just 25 in Kentucky invited to participate in the Mid-South Beef Leadership Conference at Fall Creek Falls State Park. Extension Agent Rebecca Konopka and Northeast Area Livestock Association President Bob Flaugher represented local interests during the four-day collaborative event. Participants tackled pressing industry issues including land use, farm economics, and producer education while touring regional agricultural operations. The conference aims to strengthen producer networks and implement practical programming that will directly benefit Carter County's beef community.

🏭 After 50 years, Jack Galloway still keeps the steam flowing. The utility distribution operator began his career at Fluor-BWXT Portsmouth as a janitor in 1975, working his way through various roles at the former uranium enrichment facility. Now specializing in steam line maintenance, Galloway takes pride in the challenging work and the relationships he's built over five decades. His family has deep connections to the site—both parents worked there—and he continues to call Pike County home with his wife, three children, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
