Good morning, Scioto County. Behind the walls of SOMC Hospice Center, two contrasting stories unfolded this week – one of concern as security personnel discovered a young girl wandering alone (reportedly not for the first time), leading to her mother's arrest, while another marks the peaceful passage of Prudence Ruth West, a beloved 82-year-old community fixture whose lifelong dedication to First Presbyterian Church touched countless lives through her choir performances and teaching.
Meanwhile, the creative spirit of our region's youth shines brightly at Ohio University Southern's Bobcat Academy summer camp. Young artists like Blaire Baldridge and Maverick Blankenship transformed simple materials into expressions of imagination under the guidance of community organizations including Third and Center and Ironton in Bloom. The colorful gallery of their endeavors stands as testament to what happens when we invest in our children's creative development – something Prudence West surely would have appreciated.

🎨 Young creatives unleash their talents at Bobcat Academy summer camp. Children engaged in various craft projects with community organizations during the July 23, 2025, program at Ohio University Southern in Ironton. Camp attendees like Blaire Baldridge and Maverick Blankenship worked on yarn and craft projects guided by Third and Center representatives, while others collaborated with Ironton in Bloom.
