Good morning, Scioto County. Sometimes the biggest talent makes the most unexpected moves. Track star Lipscomb has turned heads across the collegiate sports world by choosing Shawnee State University over major Power Four conference schools, delivering the program's highest-rated signing in its history. It's a reminder that finding the right fit can outweigh the allure of prestigious institutionsโ€”and a major win for this smaller athletic department.

While one star commits to Shawnee State, the university's volleyball program is already cultivating tomorrow's talent. Coach Devan Spriggs, who's amassed an impressive 73-65 record, will lead summer skills camps for young players in grades 3-8. Meanwhile, the historic Ro-Na Theater continues its remarkable transformation from rain-soaked ruin to vibrant community venue, with a $2.7 million investment from Ohio's Wonderful Waterfronts Initiative taking the 17-year revival project to new heights.

This recruitment is being celebrated as the track and field program's highest-rated signing in its history. Lipscomb's decision represents a significant coup for the smaller institution's athletics department. The unexpected commitment demonstrates that talented athletes sometimes prioritize fit over prestige when making college choices.

๐ŸŽญ Abandoned theater gets $2.7 million revival after decades of decay. The historic Ro-Na Theater in Ironton, Ohio has transformed from a rain-soaked ruin with collapsed ceilings to a vibrant community venue over 17 years.
