Good morning, Scioto County. July's calendar is filling up fast with opportunities for adventure and learning as the Scioto Soil and Water Conservation District opens registration for their CSI: Shawnee Science Camp. At just $30 thanks to generous grant funding, young explorers in grades 6-9 will get their hands dirty with fishing, kayaking, archery, and stream biology – potentially discovering career paths through partnerships with Shawnee State Park and Ohio State University.

Meanwhile, community governance continues with Washington Township trustees gathering Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. on U.S. 52, according to the Portsmouth Daily Times calendar. The announcement comes alongside somber news from Lawrence County, where a Kentucky woman lost her life Monday in a UTV rollover accident. The tragedy serves as a sobering reminder of safety precautions as summer's outdoor activities ramp up across the region.
