
ποΈ Historic Memorial Day Parade kicks off with week of special events. The Ironton-Lawrence County celebration begins Thursday with Navy Night featuring keynote speaker Lt. Col. Sean Dulaney and fireworks. Saturday night will bring more fireworks viewable from downtown, while Sunday features a special service at Veterans Hill in Woodland Cemetery. The main parade steps off Monday at 10 a.m., following a route through Center Street and continuing through Third, Quincy, Sixth and Park streets.

π» Iconic local radio station returns to airwaves after years of silence. 1230 WiTO is back on the air in Ironton, Ohio, playing classic hits from the 1960s through recent years. Bryan and Jody Fowler of Fowler Media flipped the switch on May 12, making the station available both on AM radio and across 30 digital platforms. The Fowlers are clearing trees and brush that had hidden the historic station building on Nixon Hill Road, restoring a community institution. The revived station is already partnering with local events, including providing a patriotic soundtrack for the upcoming Ironton-Lawrence County Memorial Day Parade.

The school hosted a "Heroes Day Parade" where students dressed as first responders and wore patriotic colors to thank those who helped during a crisis. Last October, Principal Bill Christian was stabbed by a parent during a school incident that led to a two-week closure. Christian, now fully recovered, expressed gratitude to police and emergency personnel who responded quickly that day. Students showed special appreciation for their principal, with one class carrying a "Bill Christian Fan Club" sign to honor his protection during the frightening ordeal.
