Good morning, Scioto County. The calendar says May is upon us, and our region is bursting with springtime activity. While roadway crews tackle multiple closures and repairs across the county—including complete shutdowns of Clinton Furnace and Feurt Hill Roads—nature is putting on a spectacular show just waiting to be discovered. This Saturday's "Wildflowers and Warblers" hike at Shawnee State Forest offers the perfect opportunity to witness spring's colorful awakening alongside fellow outdoor enthusiasts.

Amid the seasonal transitions, a sweet development is taking root in Ironton as construction begins on the area's newest Dairy Queen. Despite rainfall at the groundbreaking ceremony, owner Corby Leach's vision for the restaurant includes more than just frozen treats—he's creating a community gathering space complete with a patio and fire pit. The hometown project represents a full-circle moment for the Ironton native, who plans to open doors by October after three years of planning.
