Scioto County • March 26, 2025
Good morning, Scioto County. Mark your calendars for May 2nd when the Ironton Farmers Market springs back to life for its thirteenth season! This beloved local institution has thrived thanks to dedicated vendors—some who've been there since day one—offering farm-fresh produce and cottage foods every Friday and Saturday through October. Market manager Sam Heighton's enthusiasm for the upcoming season is as fresh as the vegetables that will soon fill Market Square (with a brief location shift in August for the Thunder on the River bike rally).
In other local developments, authorities continue investigating a West Portsmouth stabbing incident that left two injured and resulted in serious charges for Kevin E. Pack. Meanwhile, across the river, change comes to Ashland's educational leadership with Dr. Matthew Lewis's unexpected resignation as school board chairperson during Friday's special session. The board accepted his departure, though details surrounding his stepping down remain limited.
