🏀 Meet Kash Hayslip, a basketball star from Peebles High School. This Adams County senior, featured in The People's Defender's weekly student-athlete profile, shares his passion for basketball and winning moments. Kash's most memorable high school sports experience was riding the bus home after victories. Outside of sports, he enjoys watching TV (especially The Simpsons), loves Star Wars, listens to Kendrick Lamar, and dreams of visiting Disney World. After graduation, Kash plans to continue his education in college.
📚 Ohio celebrates two Blue Lion schools for exceptional reading achievements. Washington Court House City Schools' Cherry Hill Primary and Belle Aire Intermediate ranked in the top 1% of Ohio schools for literacy improvement. Governor Mike DeWine recognized only 47 schools out of more than 3,000 statewide for their exemplary implementation of science-based reading instruction. Superintendent Dr. Tom Bailey called the recognition "a huge testament to the hard work, dedication, and collaboration within the Blue Lion Family." The Science of Reading Recognition Program was announced as part of DeWine's 2025 State of the State Address earlier this month.
