🏑 Grant for Home Hope

Scioto County • January 15, 2025

Good morning, Scioto County. In a world where housing security feels increasingly uncertain, a ray of hope is shining through the Ohio Valley. The Salvation Army's latest $140,000 grant isn't just a number - it's a lifeline for families across Boyd, Greenup, and Lawrence counties, offering the precious gift of stability when it's needed most.

Meanwhile, at the Ashland Animal Rescue Fund, four furry siblings are teaching us all a lesson in patience. Moxie, Malachi, Monster, and Mayhem - the shelter's longest-staying residents - have been waiting nine months to find their forever homes, proving that sometimes life's greatest treasures take time to discover. As we also remember Kortney Jewell, whose "History Shelf" podcast brought our region's past to life, we're reminded that every story in our community, whether told through wagging tails or digital airways, deserves to be heard.

πŸ• Four loving puppies spend 9 months in Kentucky shelter, still waiting. The plott hound siblings - Moxie, Malachi, Monster and Mayhem - arrived as strays at the Ashland Animal Rescue Fund and have yet to attract any adopters. The shelter staff is baffled by the lack of interest, describing the dogs as people-loving, dog-friendly, and perfect family companions who give "the best hugs and kisses." Despite growing from doe-eyed puppies into sweet-hearted young dogs, they've spent their entire lives in kennels, prompting the shelter to make repeated pleas for potential adopters. The shelter emphasizes that while the pups may need patience to adjust to home life, they're determined to find families who will treasure them as much as the staff does.
