Good morning, Ross County. A heartbreaking reminder of road safety comes with news of 24-year-old Ryan Thompson's fatal crash on Narrows Road. The young Chillicothe man lost control on a curve last Thursday, with the tragedy leaving the community in mourning as investigators continue examining what went wrong. Meanwhile, as summer vacation winds down, our local libraries are stepping up with impressive resources to combat learning loss – from language programs to the delightful Listening Dog Service where children build reading confidence by sharing stories with therapy dogs.

Three decades of nursing excellence will be celebrated this October as OU Chillicothe's nursing program marks its 30th anniversary with a special alumni gathering. The program has prepared over 500 healthcare professionals serving our region since 1995. On the economic front, Ohio's unemployment landscape shifted slightly with initial jobless claims increasing to 5,175 last week, mirroring a national trend that saw claims rise by 11,000 across the country.
