One unusual case involved a cyclist who was stopped for tossing a beverage can, only for officers to discover he had an outstanding warrant. The busy day demonstrated that in Chillicothe, even minor infractions like littering can result in jail time.
🦋 Volunteers needed to tag migrating monarchs at Hopewell park. Hopewell Culture National Historical Park is hosting a monarch butterfly tagging event on September 7th at Hopeton Earthworks in Chillicothe. Participants will learn proper techniques for capturing and tagging butterflies as part of the nationwide Monarch Watch program studying their migration patterns to Mexico. Park staff will provide nets and wildlife handouts, though volunteers should bring water and sun protection for the outdoor activity. All participants must complete a volunteer form before joining this citizen science effort.
