Ross County • July 15, 2025
Good morning, Ross County. July is proving to be anything but quiet for Chillicothe's police department, which recently tackled 18 cases in a single hectic day. From domestic disputes on East Main Street to a burglary investigation and even a sex offense case reported from Adena Medical Center, our officers' daily reality reads like a crime drama script—minus the commercial breaks. Even a local Roosters restaurant became part of the action when police responded to an unruly juvenile complaint.
The aroma of opportunity is brewing at Rost Coffee Company, where an $18,750 economic development grant is fueling expansion plans. Since opening in 2016, this local favorite has become a cornerstone of downtown Chillicothe's revitalization. Meanwhile, a routine traffic stop turned consequential when Officer Jonathan Davis discovered not just license plate violations but also two individuals with active warrants—proving once again that in small-town policing, there's rarely such thing as a "routine" day.

☕ Local coffee shop brews expansion plans with $18,750 grant. Rost Coffee Company in Chillicothe received the economic development funding from Fluor-BWXT and JEDISO to hire additional staff and expand their space for catering and events. Owner Trent Fannin says they've outgrown their current location due to community demand. Established in 2016, Rost has become a cornerstone of Chillicothe's revitalized Downtown District, helping transform the area into a thriving hub. The grant is part of FBP's $5.5 million investment since 2011 that has created and retained thousands of jobs across southern Ohio counties.
But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
