Good morning, Ross County. US-23 became the scene of a harrowing emergency Tuesday morning when a violent two-vehicle crash left one person trapped in a smoking vehicle and another ejected and unconscious. The serious collision near Maple Lane has prompted authorities to close portions of the highway as medical helicopters and first responders work to save lives – a stark reminder of how quickly tragedy can unfold on our roadways.

Meanwhile, Chillicothe police officers certainly earned their badges recently, tackling nearly 30 incidents in a single hectic day ranging from traffic violations to warrant arrests. On the economic front, state officials aren't giving up on the 800 jobs threatened by the Pixelle paper mill closure, with Governor DeWine announcing new resources for affected workers while still encouraging the company to find solutions to keep the facility operating. A job fair scheduled for June 25 offers a glimmer of hope amid the uncertainty.
