Good morning, Ross County. From dawn to dusk on May 28, Chillicothe police tackled a staggering 31 incidents across the area. The non-stop action began with a 12:24 AM assault investigation and continued through a day filled with stolen vehicles, credit card fraud, and even a potential child abuse report from Nationwide Children's Hospital. Meanwhile, one local TikTok creator's social media ambitions were unexpectedly cut short when police arrested him mid-video at a Valero gas station for an outstanding dog warden warrant.

Beyond the police blotter, Ross County's walls are telling colorful stories through an impressive collection of public art. Downtown Chillicothe's vinyl murals, historical depictions in Bainbridge and Frankfort, and even artwork at commercial spaces like Walmart showcase our community's rich heritage and creativity. These vibrant displays – some dating back to the 1800s – transform everyday spaces into visual celebrations of local history and culture.

🚨 Cuff Notes

  • A local donut shop reported a break-in late at night when an unknown individual pried open the back door. While the cash register was empty, the thief made off with an impressive stash of pastries, leaving the owners bewildered by the craving for sweets.

  • In a rather peculiar incident, a man attempted to rob a convenience store using a rubber chicken while demanding cash. The clerk, clearly amused by the antics, managed to stall until the police arrived to apprehend the feathery felon.

  • A home was broken into during the afternoon while the residents were away, with the intruder taking various electronics and personal belongings. Neighbors were alerted by the sound of glass shattering, but unfortunately, they were unable to catch the sneaky culprit.

  • A bicycle theft occurred outside a local gym when a thief snatched a parked bike in broad daylight. Witnesses reported seeing a suspicious character loitering nearby, but the heroic quick-thinking gym-goers managed to track down the bike just a few blocks away.

  • A group of teenagers was caught attempting to vandalize a public park by spray-painting colorful designs on benches and playground equipment. While their artistic intentions were somewhat questionable, local authorities opted for community service instead of harsh penalties to promote a positive channel for their creativity.
