Good morning, Ross County. Law enforcement had their hands full this week, with Chillicothe police and sheriff's deputies responding to a combined 39 incidents in a single day. From parking complaints to more serious investigations, our officers remained vigilant—including Officer Chance Blankenship, whose routine traffic stop led to the arrest of a 21-year-old with active warrants and suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl in his possession.
As we head into the holiday weekend, take note that Memorial Day will bring closures across Chillicothe on Monday, May 26. Banks, postal services, the library, transit system, and health district will all observe the federal holiday. Before the official day of remembrance, community members can honor fallen service members at the Feast of the Flowering Moon's Memorial Day service on May 24 at Veterans Memorial Park, followed by a parade at 4:30 p.m.

🚓 Routine traffic stop leads to arrest on drug and warrant charges. Officer Chance Blankenship apprehended 21-year-old Sean Pollock after recognizing him as a wanted individual in a red Ford Taurus. During the arrest, Blankenship discovered suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl in Pollock's pocket, with Pollock admitting one baggie contained "meth." The suspect, who initially provided false identification, had active warrants from the Ross County Sheriff's Office for robbery and theft, plus another from the Adult Parole Authority. Additional charges are pending laboratory analysis of the seized substances.

The Chillicothe Police Department handled 25 calls on May 21, ranging from parking complaints and thefts to more serious cases including a rape investigation and multiple traffic violations. Meanwhile, the Ross County Sheriff's Office responded to 14 incidents, including thefts from a church parking lot and storage units, an assault case, and a possible suicide attempt. Notable arrests included drivers cited for OVI suspension and failing to stop at a stop sign, with most cases remaining under active investigation.
