Good morning, Ross County. With temperatures rising, the silver screen is heating up too. This summer's blockbuster lineup promises everything from Superman's return to Tom Cruise's death-defying stunts in "Mission: Impossible 8," while familiar faces Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan reunite for "Freaky Friday 2." Meanwhile, closer to home, the Lucy Webb Hayes house restoration stands frozen in time since 1969, waiting for the financial spark to continue transforming this significant piece of local history.

On the tasty side of town, Casa del Taco has been satisfying Chillicothe's cravings since 1984 with their famous breakfast burritos and scratch-made Mexican fare. Sports enthusiasts can draw inspiration from Adena's legendary 1972 track team, which brought home Ross County's first state championship through record-breaking performances. And for those seeking a meaningful moment, Chillicoffee's new military display honors service members with treasured family artifacts that tell powerful stories of sacrifice.

🏛️ Historic Lucy Webb Hayes house restoration stalled by lack of funds. In 1969, the Chillicothe Restoration Foundation's efforts to revive the 19th-century home hit a financial roadblock after making initial structural repairs. The house had been physically moved 18 inches and partially re-sided, with most original flooring preserved. Foundation members hoped to restore it to its 1840s appearance when Lucy lived there, debating its future use as a meeting place or gallery. A flea market fundraiser aimed to raise $500 to continue the project that would eventually become today's Lucy Webb Hayes Heritage Center.

Now operated by multiple generations of the Barker family, the business attributes its success to quality food and dedicated staff. Both Chillicothe locations continue to serve customers looking for quick-service Mexican cuisine made from scratch.

Tom Sowers led the charge, setting state records in shot put and discus during the first day of competition. Dan Ater's second place in low hurdles and third in high hurdles secured the victory, while Mike Frances and the 880-yard relay team also contributed valuable points. Coach Bill Lane called it "the longest week of my life," but his record-breaking squad delivered a historic championship.
