As the weather brightens, Ross County's trails are calling outdoor enthusiasts to explore hundreds of miles of hiking paths within an hour of Chillicothe. Adventure-seekers can also mark their calendars for Ohio's World Heritage Week (April 12-18), celebrating our region's ancient earthworks with free guided tours. Around the league, Huntington survived a nine-inning thriller against North Adams despite collecting 20 hits, while Piketon's offense exploded for 17 runs against Portsmouth West. Adena swept a doubleheader against Fairland with impressive offensive performances in both games.

๐Ÿšง Marietta Road traffic disruptions ahead for sewer work. Starting Thursday, March 27, at 6:30 a.m., crews will begin sanitary sewer lining work expected to last until April 11. The eastbound lane near Applebee's and the entrance to Manor Park at Cedarwood Drive will be affected. Entrance to Walgreens will remain accessible, but motorists are advised to use alternate routes. Questions can be directed to the Utilities Department at 740-773-1932 or WaterDistribution@chillicotheoh.gov.

  • A local individual faced charges for disorderly conduct and criminal mischief following an incident where intoxication posed a risk of harm to others. The individual was arrested by the Ross County Sheriff's Office.

  • A resident was charged with operating without a license, forgery, and two counts of theft without consent. The Chillicothe Police Department handled the arrest.

  • Another arrest involved an individual charged with assault and several violations related to a protection order. The Chillicothe Police Department took action on this case.

  • A young man was arrested on multiple charges including assault, criminal trespass, receiving stolen property, and drug paraphernalia violations. He is currently in custody according to the Pike County Sheriff's Office.

  • An individual was apprehended for refusing a chemical test despite previous OVI convictions and was also charged with illegal possession of drug paraphernalia. The arrest was made by Chillicothe Police.

  • A case involving an individual charged with criminal mischief was reported, with the arrest made by the Ross County Adult Probation department.

  • A local man was charged with violating a protection order, reflecting ongoing legal issues. This arrest was also conducted by the Chillicothe Police.

  • Lastly, an individual was arrested for being in physical control of a vehicle while under the influence, a serious charge that reflects concerns for road safety. The Ohio State Highway Patrol managed the arrest.

Norma J Behmer

Norma Behmer, 72, of Chillicothe, passed away unexpectedly at her home on March 24th, 2025. Born in 1952 to Norman and Velma Crabtree, she is survived by her daughter Jeanine, three grandchildren, and extended family. A 1970 graduate of Chillicothe High School, Norma retired from Chilpaco after 40 years of service and was an active church member who enjoyed singing in the choir and caring for ducks at Yoctangee Park. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 3, 2025, at the Ware Funeral Home with her son-in-law officiating.
