Good morning, Preble County. Sizzling beef patties piled high with toppings are taking center stage across Middletown this week. The Restaurant Collaborative's Burger Week has local eateries firing up their grills through July 26, with specialty creations like Frazier's Kitchen's towering four-onion-ring masterpiece drawing hungry crowds. Restaurant owners are celebrating what they call their "best week in summer," with passport-collecting diners eagerly sampling $6-$10 burgers while chasing the chance to win commemorative T-shirts.

In other local developments, Middletown's police force is receiving a substantial financial boost after years of lagging compensation. The city council has approved a $735,000 pay increase that will elevate officers from the "bottom of the barrel" to among the highest-paid in Butler County. Meanwhile, a serious legal case continues to unfold as Tyrone Crawford faces reduced charges in connection with his wife's fatal shooting at Shady Creek Apartments last month.
