Preble County • June 25, 2025
Good morning, Preble County. The golden age of local television is making a comeback in our region. Commercial realtor Lenny Robinson has launched an ambitious revival of TV coverage in Middletown, complete with production vans, cameras, and a team that includes paid high school students. After a decade-long absence following TV Middletown's closure, this fresh initiative has already broadcast eight basketball games and has the 4th of July parade in its sights—proving that sometimes, the most meaningful stories are the ones happening right in our backyard.
While Eaton City Council stands firm against legislation that could impact local tax authority, families have something more lighthearted to look forward to this Friday. The Main Street Aquatic Center transforms into an open-air cinema for a free Dive-In Movie Night featuring Moana 2. Complete with waterslides, foam cannons, and complimentary popcorn, this unique summer experience invites the community to float and watch under the evening sky—a perfect way to dive into the weekend.

📺 Lenny Robinson is bringing local TV back to Middletown. The commercial realtor purchased a production van and cameras to revive television coverage that ended a decade ago when TV Middletown shuttered. Robinson's team, which includes paid high school students, has already televised eight basketball games and plans to cover the 4th of July parade. He hopes to partner with the city and possibly ICRC-TV to broadcast positive local stories across multiple platforms, including streaming and cable. "This is not a redo," Robinson emphasizes, but a fresh effort to highlight community news.
🏛️ Ohio city fights to protect its local tax authority. Eaton City Council unanimously passed a resolution opposing Ohio House Bill 335, which would eliminate inside millage and transfer fiscal oversight to county budget commissions. The legislation could cost Eaton over $800,000 in revenue that funds essential services like police and fire protection. Council members described it as a "disastrous bill" that undermines local control by giving unelected county officials power over municipal budgets. The council also approved a public safety tax renewal for the November ballot to maintain critical emergency services through 2028.
🏊♀️ Eaton's free Dive-In Movie Night brings Moana 2 to the pool. Families can enjoy the summer event on Friday, June 27, at the Main Street Aquatic Center starting at 7 p.m. Attendees can float in the pool while watching the movie and enjoy complimentary popcorn, waterslides, and a foam cannon. The community gathering is sponsored by local businesses including Molokini's Hawaiian Shaved Ice and Wallace Heating & Air. Parks & Recreation Coordinator Casey Wooddell encourages families to arrive early to secure a spot for this unique summer entertainment experience.
