🚔 Traffic stop twist

Preble County • May 20, 2025

Good morning, Preble County. A routine traffic stop turned into anything but ordinary last week when deputies intercepted 29 grams of methamphetamine during what started as a simple license plate violation. The quick-thinking officers spotted a passenger's suspicious bag toss—a move that ultimately landed both Indiana men behind bars and disrupted their planned interstate drug transport. It's a stark reminder of how split-second decisions can lead to life-altering consequences.

In more uplifting news, Grammy-winning opera singer Jessica Rivera is bringing attention to something we all use daily but rarely think about—our voices. The Miami University professor helped bring World Voice Day to Oxford, championing vocal health as essential for everyone from teachers to technology users. Meanwhile, Brookville elementary students are creating their own kind of legacy, burying a time capsule that won't see daylight again until 2050. Today's memories becoming tomorrow's discoveries—a beautiful tradition connecting generations.

📦 Brookville students create time capsule for future generations to discover. On May 9, elementary students gathered to place items in a chest that won't be opened until 2050, following the recent unearthing of a time capsule from 2000. Each class sang a song before selected students placed memorabilia into the container during the special ceremony. Former Westbrook Elementary teachers and alumni who participated in the 2000 capsule event attended the celebration. The previous capsule contained personal letters, drawings, photographs, and newspaper articles that were displayed for all to see.
