Good morning, Preble County. The show must go on! Miami's Sparkfest demonstrated the remarkable resilience of creative spirits when organizers successfully moved the entire celebration indoors as rain threatened to dampen the festivities. With 150 student participants showcasing everything from handcrafted jewelry to live performances, this end-of-year celebration proved that neither rain nor storm could wash away artistic determination built through months of planning.

Elsewhere in our region, contrasting stories unfold as Montgomery County's R.A.N.G.E. Task Force conducted a significant drug bust in Trotwood, while nature enthusiasts are discovering Butler County's hidden gem—Meadow Ridge MetroPark. This 456-acre former golf course has been transformed into a natural haven with 4,000 new trees, prairie restorations, and recreational opportunities ranging from fishing to archery, offering a peaceful retreat from the more serious headlines that sometimes dominate our news.

🎭 Miami's Sparkfest thrived despite rainy weather challenges. The College of Creative Arts end-of-year celebration featured over 150 student participants, with 45 seller booths, 12 technology demos, and seven performances. Students sold everything from paintings and jewelry to pottery and vintage clothing, while visitors could enjoy live music, get portraits drawn, or participate in community art projects. When rain threatened the event, organizers successfully moved everything inside the Center for Performing Arts building, allowing the full-day celebration to continue uninterrupted. Co-chairs Mallory Stiles and Jack Drayer had worked since the beginning of the school year to bring together all six departments of the college.

🌳 Butler County's largest park is a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered. Meadow Ridge MetroPark, a 456-acre former golf course, has undergone extensive restoration since opening in 2018. Park officials have transformed the land by planting native prairies, removing invasive species, and adding 4,000 trees to create natural habitats. Visitors can enjoy birding, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, and even a new archery range. The MetroParks system purchased the property in 2016 with the goal of "preservation, restoration and creation" for public enjoyment.
