🚲 Miami University Student Foundation revives iconic campus bike race after decades. The student-run philanthropic organization hosts numerous fundraisers throughout the year to provide ten annual $2,500 scholarships to students in need. After struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic, MUSF has rebounded significantly, increasing membership and winning awards for their social media campaigns. The foundation's signature event, a 10-mile relay-style bike race originally started in 1974, returns on April 26 at Chestnut Track with a $20 entry fee per team. Beyond fundraising, MUSF maintains alumni relations through tours and regional meet-ups, celebrating Miami University traditions throughout the academic year.

Carol J. Mitchell

Carol J. Mitchell, a 78-year-old resident of Eaton, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025. Her funeral service will be held at Barnes Funeral Home in New Paris on Tuesday, April 8, at 4 p.m. Visitation hours are scheduled for the same day from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home is located at 109 West Main Street in New Paris.

Carolyn A. Grilliot

Carolyn A. Grilliot, 78, of Oxford, passed away on April 5, 2025, leaving behind her husband of 60 years, Ray, along with their three children and three grandchildren. She was a devoted member of the Oxford Church of the Nazarene, where she served as a song leader, missionary director, and on the Fellowship/Friendship Committee. Known for her legendary Sunday dinners and deep love for her grandchildren, who called her "Mamaw," Carolyn created a home that was as much a sanctuary as her church. Her family remembers her for her faith, cooking, love of Tom Selleck, and the legacy of love she leaves behind.

Mike McCain

Mike McCain, 60, of Camden, passed away on April 6, 2025. Born in Dayton on May 5, 1964, to the late Morris "Pancho" and Mary Ann McCain, he was also preceded in death by his wife Missy Dillman and two sisters. He is survived by his daughter Nikki Miller, son Gary Robinson, five grandchildren, his sister Mori Klapper, and brother Mark McCain. A visitation will be held at Bales Funeral Home in Camden on April 10 from 5-7 PM.

Brian L. Dinicola

Brian Louis Dinicola, a 51-year-old Brookville resident with Down Syndrome, passed away on April 2, 2025, at Cypress Pointe in Englewood. A graduate of Brookville High School, Brian worked at McMakens IGA for over 30 years and the Montgomery County Records Department for 21 years. He was active in sports including soccer, basketball, and volleyball, and participated in numerous Miami Valley Down Syndrome organization events. Brian is survived by his mother Alice, sister Diana, and extended family, with a private farewell planned for a later date.

Betty J. Bourne

Betty J. Bourne, a 92-year-old resident of Eaton, passed away on December 1, 2024, at Vancrest Health Care Center. A 1950 graduate of Eaton High School, Betty worked as a florist and volunteered at Reid Hospital making arrangements in the gift shop. She was a member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority, enjoyed playing cards, sewing, cooking, and spending time with her family. Betty is survived by her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, while being preceded in death by her husband Robert and three brothers.
