Good morning, Powell. Labor Day weekend is serving up weather that feels custom-ordered for Central Ohio – three straight days of sunshine and temperatures climbing from the low 70s to a perfect 79°F by Monday. This meteorological gift comes courtesy of a high-pressure system that's pushing away clouds and bringing calm winds, creating ideal conditions for whatever end-of-summer celebrations you have planned.
While you're enjoying those blue skies, mark your calendars for some exciting local happenings. The acclaimed dance company SOLE Defined is bringing their hurricane-inspired performance "ZAZ" to the Wexner Center, transforming Hurricane Katrina survivors' stories into an immersive dance experience. Coffee enthusiasts have reason to celebrate too – Fox in the Snow is brewing up its fifth location in Westerville, with doors expected to open in early October for all your artisanal coffee and pastry needs.

The world premiere performance, kicking off the 2025-26 season, explores Hurricane Katrina's impact through various dance styles including tap, body percussion, and West African dance. Co-founders Ryan and Quynn Johnson developed this "performative archive" over eight years, incorporating survivors' stories into an immersive 90-minute experience. The production features elaborate staging, original music inspired by Cab Calloway, and what director Ryan Johnson calls "some of the best dancers on the planet" who will "transport you into this world."
