Powell • August 5, 2025
Good morning, Powell. As summer temperatures climb, Plain City Police are turning up the community spirit with their second annual National Night Out on August 5. The free event transforms the Municipal Building parking lot into a neighborhood festival complete with Police Chief-grilled hot dogs, bounce houses, and even an archery trailer from Ohio's DNR. It's a perfect opportunity to strengthen those vital bonds between residents and local law enforcement while the kids enjoy complimentary ice cream.
Union County's roadways are undergoing major transformations this summer, with closures creating a complicated driving puzzle. U.S. 42 southbound between SR 745 and U.S. 33 begins a lengthy closure this week lasting until Fall 2025, while SR 736 remains closed for bridge replacement. In more poignant news, the Richwood community bids farewell to 71-year-old farmer Lynn Oldham, whose legacy of hard work, Sunday "church" coffee sessions, and beloved Farmall IH tractors leaves an indelible mark on the area.
