Good morning, Powell. When lightning strikes a soccer field, it's a stark reminder of nature's unpredictable power. Sunday's terrifying incident at Northland High School left two people critically injured after a bolt described by witnesses as turning one victim "orange" sent shockwaves through the community. Both victims remain hospitalized as their families anxiously await updates on their conditions.

On a gentler note, the Avalon Theatre is bringing the beloved Southern classic "Steel Magnolias" to Marysville next summer. This heartwarming tale of friendship and resilience among six women in a Louisiana beauty salon will run July 10-12, 2025, offering a perfect opportunity to experience what director Ryan Bowie calls "theatre in its truest form." Meanwhile, the political landscape continues to evolve as constitutional attorney Ben Weber announces his candidacy for the 86th District State House seat.
