Local student Brady Scott has reached scouting's highest honor, earning his Eagle Scout rank by creating a thoughtful sensory space at Creekview Intermediate that will benefit countless students in the years to come. Meanwhile, a Plain City family narrowly escaped tragedy when their trailer caught fire Sunday morning, with the American Red Cross now stepping in to provide assistance.

The battle of natural giants continues as two beloved Metro Parks face off in the final round of voting. Highbanks Metro Park, with its majestic bluffs near Powell, squares off against the underdog Blendon Woods, whose winding forests have surprisingly defeated all challengers so far. Cast your vote before 5pm Monday to crown the people's champion among Columbus' green spaces.

🦅 Local senior Brady Scott soars to Eagle Scout rank. The Marysville High School student, a member of Troop 644 since 2018, recently achieved scouting's highest honor. For his Eagle project, Scott created a sensory space with seating at Creekview Intermediate Elementary School. The thoughtfully designed area includes a picnic table bench and sensory items mounted on a wall. Scott developed the project in collaboration with Creekview's special education team to benefit students at the Mill Valley school.

🌳 Two Columbus Metro Parks battle for the crown in final showdown. Highbanks Metro Park, with its impressive high bluffs near Powell, faces off against Blendon Woods' winding forests between Westerville and New Albany in the final round of voting. While Highbanks boasts nearly twice the acreage at 1,200 acres compared to Blendon's 650, the underdog Blendon Woods has decisively defeated all opponents so far. Readers can cast their votes for their favorite park until 5pm Monday, with results announced Tuesday. The matchup represents the culmination of three rounds of voting that narrowed down Columbus' impressive list of Metro Parks.

🔥 Trailer fire leaves Plain City family homeless, no injuries reported. A family of five, including three boys, safely escaped when their trailer caught fire Sunday morning in Plain City, Ohio. The blaze spread to at least two neighboring trailers, causing exterior damage and slightly burning a car. First responders from Pleasant Valley Joint Fire District confirmed no injuries among residents or neighbors. The American Red Cross is now assisting the displaced family while authorities investigate the cause of the fire.

🙏 In Remembrance

Mary Margaret Grant

Mary Margaret Grant, 63, of Columbus, OH, passed away on March 27, 2025, after battling frontotemporal dementia. Born to Denny and Mary Dorgan in 1961, she worked as an eyeglass technician for 41 years and was a 1980 graduate of St. Francis DeSales high school. She is survived by her son Daniel, three sisters, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on April 8-9, 2025, with memorial donations suggested to the Capital Area Humane Society or St. Vincent de Paul Society.
