🙏 Sacred spaces shift

Good morning, Portage County. Sacred spaces have a way of finding new purpose while preserving their spiritual essence. Such is the story of Akron's historic Our Lady of the Elms convent, where after nearly a century of housing Dominican Sisters, the nearly 100-year-old motherhouse will begin a new chapter as a Hindu retreat center. The property's transition represents a beautiful continuation of its legacy as a place for reflection and community, albeit in a different spiritual tradition.

Meanwhile, residents in Mayfield Heights experienced a jarring contrast to spiritual peace when gunshots disturbed the quiet Wednesday evening, with one bullet striking a home on Lander Road. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in what police believe was a targeted incident. For those seeking lighter summer concerns, local beef enthusiasts are engaged in the delicious debate over grilling's finest forms—whether the luxurious marbling of American Wagyu, the leaner profile of grassfed, or the concentrated flavor of dry-aged beef deserves the crown.

🥩 Summer grilling ignites debate over beef's finest forms. Wagyu, grassfed, and dry-aged beef each offer distinct grilling experiences for meat lovers. American Wagyu, a cross between Japanese Wagyu and Angus, delivers luxurious marbling that equals flavor, while grassfed beef provides a leaner, "beefier" taste with nutritional advantages but requires careful cooking. Dry-aged beef, typically aged 35-60 days, concentrates flavor and enhances tenderness, developing nutty, funky notes similar to prosciutto. Local experts agree that while ribeye remains a forgiving favorite for most grilling situations, the best cut ultimately depends on personal preference and proper cooking technique.
