🤖 Ohio's first AI Academy launches in Portage County. Hope Town AI, in partnership with AI Owl, is inviting employers to a free AI Readiness Summit offering workplace-ready AI training that's 100% reimbursable through Ohio's TechCred program. The initiative aims to help organizations streamline operations and boost productivity through AI integration, with both virtual (July 11) and in-person (July 18) training options available. Christopher Lattimer from Hope Town describes the summit as moving "from demystification to implementation of AI," providing employers with tools to confidently embrace the future of work. The Academy will serve as a local hub for innovation and workforce transformation in Portage County.

🎭 Downtown Akron welcomes new cabaret bringing Broadway flair. Lisa Henderson has opened Unite Cabaret, a unique performance venue at Main and Exchange streets featuring musical theater shows, dancing, and special events. The 11,500-square-foot space, formerly Aura Ultra Lounge, now houses a stage, bar, and dance floor where audiences can enjoy two initial productions: "A Night at the Musicals" and "Broadway Burlesque." Henderson, a seasoned educator and performer with an MFA, aims to showcase local talent and create a versatile entertainment hub where patrons can experience cabaret shows and dancing in one vibrant downtown location.

🎡 Downtown Cuyahoga Falls buzzes with summer entertainment for families. The Ohio city's lineup includes weekly Riverfront Cruise In car shows on Mondays through August 25, featuring themed displays and fundraising for the Falls Cancer Club. Free "Flix on the Falls" movie nights offer live music, food trucks and family films on select Fridays, while Front Street Live brings free concerts to downtown stages. Heritage festivals including Festa Italiana and Oktoberfest will return with free admission, alongside special events like Falls Downtown Friday and National Night Out in August.

Robert Lee Dean

Robert "Bob" Dean, an 83-year-old retired postal worker from Akron, passed away on June 26, 2025. Born in West Virginia in 1942, Bob was known for his friendly personality during his long career as a letter carrier in Cuyahoga Falls before retiring in 2003. After serving in the U.S. Air Force with stations in multiple locations including Turkey, he pursued his passion for photography professionally, specializing in portraits and weddings. Bob is survived by his two sons, three brothers, one sister, and extended family, with a visitation and memorial service scheduled for July 7, 2025, at Newcomer Funeral Home in Akron.
