Pike County • October 2, 2025
Good morning, Pike County. Raising a glass to hometown excellence! A small family distillery in Bainbridge has put our region on the national map, with Paps Hilltop's Copperas Mountain Corn Liquor earning gold medal status as America's best moonshine. This Main Street gem is proving that world-class spirits don't need big-city addresses to shine at prestigious competitions like the USA Spirits Ratings in San Francisco.
Meanwhile, Ross County is celebrating excellence of a different kind as their Board of Developmental Disabilities earned the highest possible state accreditation—a testament to exceptional service quality for our neighbors with developmental disabilities. And for families marking their calendars, Halloween plans are officially set with Chillicothe's trick-or-treating scheduled for Thursday, October 30th from 6-7:30pm, complemented by downtown festivities including the Chamber's Downtown Trick or Treat and the Jaycees' Halloween Parade the previous weekend.

🌟 Ross County agency achieves highest possible state accreditation honor. The Ross County Board of Developmental Disabilities received a three-year accreditation from the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities, the maximum achievement level available. This recognition came after a comprehensive review confirming the agency exceeds Ohio's standards for service quality and compliance. Superintendent Amy Beeler credited the dedicated staff who work tirelessly to help individuals with developmental disabilities "thrive, grow and live meaningful lives." Notable accomplishments include installing ten universal changing stations throughout the community and creating a program recognizing exceptional direct support professionals.
🎃 Chillicothe reveals Halloween lineup for spooky season 2025. Mayor Luke Feeney announced the city's trick-or-treating will be held Thursday, October 30th from 6-7:30pm, rain or shine. Downtown festivities kick off earlier with the Chamber of Commerce hosting Downtown Trick or Treat on Saturday, October 25th from 4-6pm, followed by the Chillicothe Jaycees' Halloween Parade at 7pm. The mayor emphasized driver caution during these events to ensure everyone's safety. Chillicothe follows the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission's recommended schedule for citywide trick-or-treating.
