Pike County • July 30, 2025
Good morning, Pike County. Orange barrels and detour signs have become Pike County's unofficial summer mascots this season. Starting July 29th, Chillicothe streets begin their major facelift with the 2025 milling and paving program kicking off on Yaples Orchard Drive. Meanwhile, SR 220 sits closed for a month-long bridge replacement, and Belleview Avenue will shut down to through traffic on July 30th, affecting cemetery access. The transportation transformation seems to touch nearly every corner of the county.
As construction heats up, so does the weather forecast. Fortunately, Scioto County has opened multiple cooling stations to provide refuge from the sweltering temperatures. From the Salvation Army in Portsmouth to the New Boston Community Center, residents have several options to beat the heat throughout the week. These climate-controlled havens offer welcome respite as we navigate both the summer temperatures and the maze of road closures reshaping our daily commutes.

City officials encourage residents with questions to contact the Engineering Department or Utilities Department directly.
