Good morning, Pike County. The aroma of success is brewing in downtown Chillicothe as Rost Coffee Company lands an $18,750 grant to expand their operations. Since establishing roots in 2016, this local favorite has become such a cornerstone of the Historic Downtown District that they've literally outgrown their walls. The funding arrives just in time to help owner Trent Fannin hire additional staff and respond to growing community demands for catering and event space.
Accessibility takes center stage at the Chillicothe & Ross County Public Library, which recently secured $10,000 to enhance services for disabled patrons. Library officials are inviting community input at their July 30 meeting to help allocate these funds. Meanwhile, dust off your flapper dresses and fedoras – Pike County's 1920s-themed fundraiser is transforming the Senior Center into a speakeasy on October 25, complete with celebrity chefs competing to support vital senior services throughout the community.

☕ Small coffee shop lands $18,750 grant to expand in downtown Chillicothe. Rost Coffee Company received the funding from Fluor-BWXT and JEDISO to hire additional staff and grow their operations. Owner Trent Fannin says the business has outgrown its current location due to increasing community requests for catering and rental space. The grant is part of FBP's commitment to economic development in the region, having provided over $5.5 million in economic grants since 2011. Established in 2016, Rost Coffee has become an anchor of Chillicothe's Historic Downtown District after moving into the Fort Collective.
📚 Small-town library wins $10,000 to break down barriers for disabled patrons. The Chillicothe & Ross County Public Library is among 300 recipients of the Libraries Transforming Communities grant aimed at improving accessibility in rural areas. Last year, the library used similar funding to install accessible doors and universal changing tables in their annex. Library officials are seeking community input at a July 30 meeting where individuals with disabilities and their supporters can suggest projects for the new funds. "This gives the library an opportunity to improve facilities and further promote our goal of making sure the library really is for everybody," said executive director James Hill.
