Pike County • June 13, 2025
Good morning, Pike County. The roads of our community have become the front lines in a concerning battle against crime this week. A routine traffic stop on State Route 104 turned into a major drug bust when officers discovered nearly half a pound of methamphetamine and a loaded handgun in Zachariah Holyman's BMW. Meanwhile, in Lakeview, 30-year-old Christopher Aills learned the hard way that "too much to drink" and driving don't mix, earning him OVI charges after refusing both field sobriety tests and a breathalyzer.
Adding to the county's legal developments, the Scioto County Grand Jury has been particularly busy, returning twenty indictments covering everything from drug trafficking to assault and rape charges. The wide-ranging cases include Edward Marrero facing felonious assault and child endangerment charges, while Loretta Clifford and Phillip Jackson confront multiple counts of drug trafficking. These cases represent just a snapshot of the ongoing efforts to maintain law and order in our region.

๐ Chillicothe man arrested after driving drunk in Lakeview. Christopher Aills, 30, was stopped by Washington Township officers Wednesday evening for traffic violations on Stephenson Street. Officers observed signs of impairment, and Aills admitted to having "too much to drink." After refusing both field sobriety tests and a subsequent breathalyzer at the Logan County Jail, he was cited for OVI and a marked lanes violation before being released to a sober driver.
๐ Half-pound meth bust follows routine traffic stop in Ohio. Zachariah Holyman was arrested after police discovered approximately 185 grams of methamphetamine and a loaded handgun during a traffic stop on State Route 104. Detectives from Chillicothe Police Department had tracked Holyman's BMW using a License Plate Reader, noting suspicious travel patterns between Columbus and Ross County. A police K9 alerted officers to narcotics, leading to the discovery of drugs packaged for distribution, along with a concealed compartment in the glove box. Holyman faces multiple felony charges including drug trafficking and possession, while his passenger was released without charges.
